Meet the Teacher {Linky}

I'm finally linking up with Falling into First for the Meet the Teacher Blogger Linky! I've been reading everyone's posts all week and finally decided to write my own!

I'm Samantha! I'm 24 and going into my third year of teaching. I graduated from Michigan State in 2011, spent a year student teaching in Chicago, then moved back to North Carolina to begin my teaching career. I spent my first two years in a charter school--one year teaching 6th grade and another teaching 4th/5th ELA and SS. This year, I am working as a 3-5 Inclusion Teacher in a public school THREE MINUTES from my house!

I got engaged in June to my wonderful fiance, Joe. We met in college and are getting married in Northern Michigan next summer! So on top of teaching and working on my Master's Degree (halfway done! yess!!), we are planning a wedding!

We are parents to our wonderful furbaby, Ernie! He's still a kitten, so he's a bundle of energy all the time!

THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS...
friends + family. traveling. Netflix. painted nails. chevron. baseball. Chicago. sleeping in. Diet Pepsi. Michigan State. cooking. the Otis Redding Pandora station. tea. Northern Michigan. teaching. reading. Food Network. flip flops. grocery shopping.

IF YOU WEREN'T A TEACHER, WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO BE?
My undergrad degree is in Social Relations & Policy (kind of like public policy), so I'd probably use that to work in education policy or at a non-profit.

My ultimate dream would be to be a food writer/blogger who travels around to new places, eats delicious food, and gets paid for it.

THREE LITTLE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOU.
Patient. Caring. Sarcastic.
FINISH THE SENTENCE, "________,  SAID NO TEACHER EVER!!"
The Sharpened Pencil: Get Up and Go!
'Those politicians know what I need to better teach my kids,' said no teacher ever.

Q: IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY AND YOU CAN INVITE ANYONE {DEAD OR ALIVE} TO THE PARTY. WHO ARE YOU INVITING?
It's my party, so I'm inviting more than one. haha. I'll invite Ryan Gosling, J.D. Salinger, Emeril Lagasse, Gloria Steinem, Bob Dylan, and Abraham Lincoln.

Q: IF SOMEONE WROTE A BOOK ABOUT YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD BE THE TITLE?
Untitled. I think I would change my mind depending on the day or the year being written about. I've changed so much throughout the years that I wouldn't be able to come up with a good title for the whole thing.

Q:YOU GET TO PICK ONE SUPERPOWER. WHAT IS IT?
Apparition (or teleportation, for you non-Harry Potter fans). There are so many places I'd like to visit, so being able to go there instantaneously would be amazing!

Q: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE OR SAYING?
 I love it.

Q: IF YOU HAD TO SING ONE SONG ON AMERICAN IDOL, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
I don't think anyone would ever want to hear me sing, but if I had to choose it would be something old school like Britney or Backstreet Boys.
Q: ARE YOU A MORNING PERSON OR A NIGHT OWL?
Definitely a night owl. I'm trying to get myself back on my work sleep schedule and waking up at 6:00 has not been easy!

Q: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE RESOURCE THAT YOU'VE CREATED IN YOUR TPT SHOP?
I really love everything, but I'm loving my Icebreaker pack. I'm sad I won't get to use it this year since I won't have my own class.

First Week of School: Icebreakers & Get to Know You Activities

Q: SHARE SOMETHING WE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU!
I'm obsessed with cooking shows. I just watched all ten seasons of Top Chef this summer. I'm keeping my eye out for some reasonably priced cooking classes in the Raleigh/Durham area so I can practice what I see on TV!

Now it's your turn:
